Reflecting Back......................

Yesterday evening as I was driving home from work I was thinking that it has been a year and two months since I moved to Seattle from Texas. Wow, I can't believe it, how time goes by so fast.

As I look back over the past year of challenges, struggles, frustrations, accomplishments, happy moments and new discoveries I feel amazed at my leap of faith to start my life all over. I've matured even more this past year and I feel free, cleansed and at peace. I'm living in such a beautiful place, I swear this part of the country is so different than any other part of the U.S. It's something special about here, I can't quite put it into words but you can feel it. I'm living in a place where people are highly educated, very liberal, free thinking, Eco-friendly, there's a kind of Bohemian/hippie cool vibe going on, it's a little geeky and a little edgy at the same time. People bike, hike and take the public transportation more than driving their cars and if they do drive you see more Hybrids, the Prius cars, and Mini's more than BMW's or Mercedes. It's not that people can't afford luxury cars it's that they tend to be more simplistic and down to earth. Trust me, Seattle has alot of wealthy people here and there are some really nice exclusive areas to live, like Mercer Island, Bellevue and Redmond to name a few. And Seattle has some amazing companies here, like Starbucks, Amazon and Microsoft. How cool is that?

Next, how can I forget the beauty, the scenery is spectacular especially on a clear sunny day when you can see Mt. Rainer, the Cascades and the Olympics all surrounding the city. It's gorgeous! I love driving across the 520 floating bridge every morning and afternoon, it's so cool to cross the water and see all the sailboats, rowers scattered in the choppy waters and to see the many seagulls flying overhead. And to see the majestic Bald Eagle setting perched on one of the tall light posts every morning, this bird's beauty is incredible. Now where can you drive everyday and get the rare opportunity of spotting our National Bird, only here in Washington. This place is a sanctuary for wildlife.

All in all, Seattle is a hidden gem that only few truly appreciate and really get to discover the hidden things it has to offer.

I am happy to call Seattle my home!
